Flinders Petrie was the first person to study broken objects of everyday life, such as pottery, beads and cosmetic palettes for example.
It is through the study of these objects that one can gain insight into the everyday life of the inhabitants of Ancient Egypt. Many of the objects that Petrie excavated were dispersed across the globe to various museums that helped sponsor Petrie’s excavation. Some of the objects can be seen at the Slave Lodge which is one of the sites of Iziko Museums of South Africa.
